Persia was a powerful nation and ruled over many countries, including
Judah. The King liked to show off his power and he chose beautiful
women from all around his country to come to the palace after he expelled
his queen. Among them was a Jewish girl, Esther. The chosen beauties
were trained for a year and Esther, who was the wisest, most virtuous,
and most beautiful became queen since she was loved by the King. In
place of her parents, Esther was raised by her cousin who worked in
the palace. The cousin asked her repeatedly to keep the secret about
her Jewish background. |
